Mudwig

Daniel Sparkes (Mudwig) creates work that strives to illuminate the absurdities embroiled in and around the mysteries of death and individual conscious dissolution, by constructing what he calls ‘Mythological Monument’ drawings. Images of dissected popular ‘cartoon’ characters engulfed in war-ravaged landscapes, architectural ruins and fast food litter expose an incongruity between the visually conventional and the complex fantasy of an imagined diagrammatic world. Daniel Sparkes has exhibited extensively throughout the UK and mainland Europe, with recent shows in Copenhagen and New York. Sparkes’ works has also been widely noted in publications such as Juxtapoz Magazine, Dazed and Confused, Modart Magazine, Pictoplasma’s Pen to Paper, Wooster Collective’s Hollywood Remix book, and Thames and Hudson’s Street Sketchbook.
